Sometimes it can be hard to differentiate between clinical practice and personal needs that stem from our work struggles. Contact me to book in a free 15-minute phone consultation and I can help you work out which pathway might suit you best.
My belief is that clinical supervision and counselling go hand-in-hand. The sooner you start your supervision journey, the better service your clients receive.
Counsellors are welcome to bring to supervision topics and themes that will be of most benefit to you. That might include (and certainly not limited to) specific client cases, ethical themes, general practice dilemmas, counselling construct questions, celebrating successes.
And we can negotiate timing of sessions to suit your supervision needs as well as ensuring you meet your required hours.
Because I want to give your cases the focused energy they deserve, supervision is reserved strictly for our scheduled session times. I am unavailable for emergency or on-call support between appointments. If you face a sudden clinical crisis or safety concern, please take these steps right away:
Please know that your well-being matters to me. We will make it a priority to safely debrief the event, look after you, and unpack your clinical steps at our very next scheduled session.
Supervision for Supervisors in Allied Health focuses on your reflective practice skills and developing your supervision style. I can also support you with leadership dilemmas to enhance creating healthy boundaries with your supervisees and colleagues. As a counselling supervisor I also have a focus on supporting psychologically safe therapeutic and working alliances.
While I have a working knowledge of the allied health supervision framework and basic understanding of various allied health professions, I will hold ethical boundaries by not offering guidance or advice around allied health clinical concerns.
You are so welcome! As you can see, my focus is around coping with change; chronic disease and physical health and the emotional impacts; grief; and carer stress. We can experience these things whether we are a helping professional or not. Contact me to book in a free 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your counselling needs and ensure we are a good fit.
You do not need a referral to work with me.
You are welcome to get in touch directly and we can arrange a time to begin. If you have been referred by a GP or another practitioner, you are also very welcome.
The short answer is no. I don't record counselling or supervision sessions or use AI for case notes or reports. Not because I am against the new technology, but more because I am old school! I don't view AI as a clinical tool and I adhere to PACFA's code of ethics around use of AI.
I also invite you not to use AI while we are in session online, whether that's in group or individual supervision or counselling. I want us to be fully present with one another and to reflect on what we are thinking, feeling and experiencing in the moment.
If you have a need for use of AI or other technology during our sessions, we will negotiate this and ensure there is a clear rationale that is clinically sound and adheres to ethical practice, disability standards and privacy principles.
I will say however that I use AI sometimes as a way to understand and navigate the brave new world of marketing! And I am careful to ensure information gleaned in searches is properly reference checked.
My workshops have an overarching goal to support teams to be their best, to inspire new ideas that come from the ground up. That also means supporting leaders to work from within. My focus is around client-centred practice, values-based goal-setting, healthy boundaries, self-compassion, resilience and managing change. Let's talk about what you need from a workshop and whether I can create something brand new for you.
